The Skilled Worker visa remains the UK's main employer-sponsored route, but the requirements have tightened: the general salary threshold now sits at £41,700 and the required skill level has risen to RQF Level 6 (graduate level), with the English language requirement moving from B1 to B2 for several categories. Separately, the government has proposed extending the qualifying period for settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) from 5 years to 10 for most routes — this is a proposal under consultation, not yet law, though Global Talent and Innovator Founder are explicitly earmarked to keep a 3-year settlement timeline even if it goes through.
